Traveler Reviews

Don't miss unique restaurant experience

My wife and I finally made it to Paris for our wedding anniversary and came across this nice little bistro near our hotel. The owner really took care of us especially when she learned what we were celebrating. She even suggested a great sparkling wine for the occasion. It was just the sort of place we imagined finding in Paris, a warm atmosphere and delicious food. This was certainly one of our highlights in Paris.

A journey back in time

With 24 glowing reviews and 1 terrible, we decided to give it a try fully expecting the 1 errant writer to have got it all wrong. Sadly not though. Not all right, but certainly not all wrong. The reception was pleasant and friendly, however the actual restaurant is somewhat anaemic...a voyage back in time to a bistro of the 1930's, music included. With only a few tables occupied the place lacked any real ambience, and the open plan, high ceilings and rather rudimentary décor did not provide a feast for the eyes. So to the important bits. The food. Good value for sure and overall, tasty if unimaginative. It took a while arriving, in view of the paucity of patrons, making me fear the worst if the place was full. The service was 'distracted' to chit chat at the bar, and forgot part of the very simple order until reminded. That said, the plates are well presented. This isn't the top of the culinary art, but reasonably well made, fairly simple food at a fair price...and for the that alone this restaurant does deserve some credit...and is the sole basis on which I would indeed recommend it to friends. The wine list is interesting, if priced at a different level to the main food menu, and clearly the place where the margins on the business are made. I don't begrudge this though, as the choices are eclectic and worth a try. We may well have hit on a 'slow' period, with rain outside keeping the 'regulars' indoors. So I'd say that a 14/20 would be the best I could give as an overall score. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, but if I was walking in the Marais district and wanting to not spend a small fortune then, yes, I'd go back and give Le Framboisy a second chance.....

Enchanting and delightful

Wonderful restaurant with great ambiance, courteous staff, great food at very right price. Owned by a french woman married to an American, she speaks at least 5 languages fluently. Friendly manner. Personalized service. Fine food and wine.

Le Framboisy: Delicious cuisine and wonderful ambiance.

Le Framboisy is a gem! You will be rewarded for your efforts to find this cute little restaruant. The food is fantastic, the amosphere is slightly romantic - slightly upscale, but reasonably priced. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly. When I am back in Paris, I will be sure to revisit Le Framboisy!

Nice little restaurant

I finally got around to visiting Le Framboisy, mostly after reading the reviews but also after walking by it almost every day for a year (I live around the corner from the restaurant). The food is very good, well prepared, with an extensive yet inexpensive wine list. The menus are typical bistro style on a chalkboard, and it seems like they have a good mix between traditional confit de canard and some more regional dishes. I'll admit that I usually like to see more of a variety, and usually hope for something a bit out of the ordinary, but the choices seemed pretty typical. The food was well prepared and flavorful, and the wine was excellent. For the price, I'll have to admit that this really hits the mark. Definitely recommend for a family bistro, but don't expect a three Michelin star experience.
