Traveler Reviews

It doesnt get better than this

We had booked this restaurant following reviews in Trip Advisor as it seemed exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary It is situated down a lovely road lined with other restaurants about 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame. We arrived on time and were shown to a lovely table upstairs overlooking the diners down stairs( ask for this table if you like people watching) . The restauarant is so small ( 24 covers) that the atmosphere carries upstairs from the piano player down stairs. We chose from the pris fixe gourmand menu at 36 Euro . The food was absolutely sensational for the price. I had duck and fois gras salad to start followed by veal with mushrooms. My wife had the scallop and salmon tartare with avocada and the sea bream. All were to die for as were the desserts- creme brulee and a beignet/ doughnut. with ice cream and red fruits. The drink was very reasonable for paris -24 euro for a petit chablis and 3.90 for a 330ML bottle of freezing cold 1664- the cheapest and best beer i had in Paris !! But best of all was the ambience and warm hospitality of the hostess( Nicola i think). She was a whirlwind looking after all the tables on her own but she could not have been friendlier and service was just right in timings. We paid for £103 euro for 3 courses each wine and beer. I am sure there are hundreds of finer dining experiences in Paris ( at an exorbitant price) but if you are looking for absiolute top quality food in a warm friendly and thoroughly authentic French setting then i urge you - book this restaurant. I have never reviewed on line before ( selfish as I always use trip advisor!!) but this place inspired me to. Apologies to readers for the length of this review but as i write i want to go back TONIGHT !!!

A perfect place for our anniversary dinner

Thank you again, Trip advisor, for leading us here. Less than a 5 minute easy walk from the Pont Marie Metro, and only 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame, on a street full of shops, boutiques and restaurants - nice walking district. Small, perhaps a dozen tables, filled with jazz photos - we arrived at 7 as they opened and got the table next to the piano so were able to carry on a friendly conversation with the excellent player all evening (there is music on weekends all winter). Service VERY friendly, menu small but varied, and wine list adequate. Food was superb and the presentation excellent - a perfect spot to spend the evening to celebrate our anniversary. Service included some English on menus, and hostess spoke English, but all other patrons were French the night we were there. With the limited number of tables reservations highly recommended (can be made by internet). Our total cost incl 2 table d'hote, a bottle of wine and 4 liqueurs was 104 Euros.

Outstanding....simple as that!

The only negative of the whole experience was our inept ability to get lost when finding this gem! We were worried with us being 15 minutes late that there would be cross faces from restaurant, but we were ushered in like we were a pair of old friends, grabbed our coats and showed us to our table. The restaurant is only tiny with about 8-10 tables in total, all typically Parisian closeness to each other. There was room for a piano which was played live for most of the time we were there which was very nice and gave the room a bit more ambience. Unlike in some restaurants where the waiter is hovering within yards of your table waiting for your menu to drop an inch then they ask " are you ready to order", the service was exquisite. With a gentle nod of the head the waiter was over, offering advice and taking our order. Very nice menu, also fixed price menus at 27 and 36 euros. Nice wine list, which we made use of! We had starters of roasted vegetable soup, and smoked salmon and scallops with an avocado puree, both were amazing! Presentation second to none. Main courses of beautiful fresh salmon in a tomato and pine nut sauce, and beef with a roquefort sauce....again perfection! If we ever have a dessert when we have a meal (which is rarely!), we always choose Creme Brulee, and again this was up there with the best. We are so glad that we took the time to have a good look on Trip Advisor and find this hidden gem! It was certainly one of the best meals we have ever had. Service = first class Food = first class Venue = perfect Wine = awesome Experience the Le Relais de l''Isle....you won't regret it!

Superbe Dining

We ate here on the night before Valentine's Day. Because of the reviews I had already emailed ahead to book the table without any problem. The place is small but the atmosphere is great and the lady who attended to us was superb. We both had the set menu for 27 euros and the food was very well cooked with so many tastes and flavours. Would definitely go there again and highly recommend it, in fact she was having to turn so many people away who tried on the off chance for a table, although if you got here later around 9.30 - 10pm then they be able to fit you in without a booking.

Lovely meal here

We ate dinner here on 3rd February. We both had 3 courses and a really good bottle of wine. Hubby, for some reason, went for the vegetarian menu, and I had the 'menu plaisir' (I think they were both 27 Euros). I had the pork for the main course and it was delicious. The lady who served us was attentive without being intrusive; the food was excellent; there was no piano-player playing (it was a Wednesday) but the background music was a delightful mix. It's not a big restaurant, but that adds to the charm. We enjoyed the stroll there and back (from Notre Dame area). We would recommend it for the quality of the food served.
