Indian Food @ Kenya

Travelling from Middle East (non veg is staple diet) to Africa ( land of animals)... for a converted vegetarian by choice... I was wondering what would be my culinary experience at Kenya. First stop at Nairobi, via Dubai. By evening, I was already missing my dosa-chutney/moong dal fry/alu gobi, etc. Thanks to Lonely Planet, we decided on Haandi. Travel agent at Nairobi confirmed Haandi was the most popular. We went to Haandi.... Indeed, the it was great to get some authentic Indian food.

At first I was skeptical b/c it is located in a mall and because on arrival we were made to wait 30 minutes for a table in an empty restaurant, apparently they were having a staff meeting. Once our waiter arrived though he was attentive and nice. Our food was WONDERFUL! We ordered a lamb, a chicken, and a seafood dish. All were great, especially with the delicious naan bread! I would go back in heart beat. The price was a little expensive but no more than any nice place in Nairobi

Haandi used to be the best place to enjoy Indian cuisine in Nairobi but has become the victim of its success. Unless of course inflated prices are the result of their success. Today the food is not any better than most Indian restaurants in the area, the service is good and the ambiance average. Better to try cheaper alternatives like Open House and Angiti... simply better value for your money.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Its in a shopping centre but do not be put off. Its got to be one of the best Indian Restaurant's I have eaten at and I know my Indian (excuse the boast). Service was pleasant, decor just fine and great value for money. Food was fabulous.

we had a great meal here. very very tasty and a great feed. had a great night here and it looks very busy which is a good sign.
