This was our second trip to Mombasa, after using the tour operators service for a safari on our first trip we decieded to book our second through a local safari company. We had seen on trip advisor several good reports about Freddys safaries and decieded to contact him to use his services. He promptley replied to our first inquiery and posted us a detailed account of the type of safaris that were available. We chose a two night air safari to the Masai Mara in a luxuary tented camp (Kitchwa Tembo)On our arrival in Mombasa 2/11/09 Freddy arranged a meeting with us to go through our itinary and finalise our plans,he came in person to our hotel and took us to his office.Freddy now offers to pick you up direct from moi airport on your arrival so no waiting for passengers from other flights on over crowded transfer busses,On the day of our safari we were promptley met out side the hotel gates and driven by Freddy himself check in was swift and hassle free. Now what about the sarari all i can say is it lived up to all our expectations the camp was fantastic, managment and staff were superb game drives were the stuff dreams are made of seeing all the big five the pride of lions by the waterhole drinking and playing streching on trees is something ill never forget. The cheetah and her cub feeding on the fresh kill another memory i will cherish forever. We were also lucky enough to see three black rhinos on our last game drive misson accomplished. When we arrivied back at camp after our last game drive all managment and staff greeted us with a rendition of hakuna matata..All this in the shadows of the hills where they filmed out Out Of Africa made our dreams come true.If you want to live the dream let Freddy Muthengi arrange your safari for you,you wont be dissapointed.

We have just returned from a three day safari Oct 2009, with Freddie and it cannot be faulted. We had a private tour for two in a Land Cruiser. Our guide was excellent and went out of his way to show us everything he could. I am sure we could have haggled for a slightly better price, but we have no regrets.

We went on a 3 day (2 nights) safari to Tsavo East & West with Freddy's Safaris. It was fantastic!! We payed a bit extra for the 4x4 safari for just the two of us and it was well worth the extra money. We emailed Freddy, who replied within a few hours, with a list of safaris and prices (which were very reasonable). I had read on Trip Advisor that Tsavo East & Amboseli were the best Parks, near Mombasa, to see big game, so we emailed Freddy to indicate that was where we wanted to go. Despite the fact that this was only a week before we were due to fly out, he told us that was no problem. Freddy picked us up outside our hotel (Bamburi Beach Hotel) on the day we arrived, as we'd arranged, and took us to his office a few minutes down the road. I was a bit nervous about this, but needn't have worried as he made us very welcome and couldn't have been more professional. He explained to us that Amboseli was a few more hours travelling, away from Mombasa, than Tsavo was and wanted to make sure we were aware of that before we booked as it would have meant less time looking at animals, and lots of hours on the road. This was news to us, and we were glad he told us. He had no problem in changing our booking for us when we changed our mind. He also had no problem with us paying half cash and half credit-card. The safari itself was fantastic. Muhammed our driver/guide was very knowledgable about the animals and showed us giraffes, elephants, ostrich, buffalo, antelope, zebra, babboons, a tortoise, hippos... but not rhino :-( They were hiding that day! We stayed at Voi Safari lodge on the first night and Ngulia the second. Ngulia was the nicer of the two and they hang meat out on a tree at night for the local leopard. When it comes at night to eat they knock on your door so you can see it feed. All meals were supplied for the whole three days, and there was plenty of bottles of water in the jeep for us to drink. Overall it was an amazing experience and we would highly recommend booking through Freddy, whichever safari you fancy.
