Great spot near the Beach at Fajardo...

Great spot near the Beach at Fajardo. Just 2 minutes from El Conquistador Hotel. Great food , order any plate with their custom BBQ sauce. Free parking and great atmosphere.

Well executed on all counts.

First of all, beware of the map provided in tripadvisor.com. La Estacion is on El Conquistador Ave., but not by PR3. In reality it is over near the entrance to the rather horribly named El Conquistador resort. The food is a very good fusion of local and BBQ standards. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The lighting is low and attractive. No overhead fluorescents turning your date into an unattractive green-skinned alien like most PR restaurants. For a nice dinner in PR it is downright inexpensive, which is to say it is basically NYC prices. It's not "excellent," but it is quite nice and it blows away most other places in the region. All in all it is worth the drive.

Quaint, expensive, excellent fish, mediocre service, where's the coffee?

This is a cute/quaint restaurant. Minimal seating so it is a good idea to call ahead for reservations. Attire is casual. We had the fish special for the evening--Yellowtail snapper. The fish, the Ceasear salad and potato salad were excellent, beautifully served and would be MORE than enough for two people (it is served all together on a HUGE platter so, save your $ and SHARE). We waited about 30 minutes before our meal was served. The salad was served ON the platter rather than as a first course so the wait for dinner seemed very long. Then when it was served, we wanted to eat the fish before it got cold so the salad (which we would have really enjoyed during our wait), ended up not getting eaten. Oh, well. The Mojitoes and Margaritas were good. There were only 2 dessert choices. We chose the triple chocolate cake and shared. The cake got mixed reviews from our group---both "excellent" and "fair" (the one who thought it was excellent took the last little bit home for a midnight snack!) By the way, this restaurant does NOT serve coffee. There were huge gaps with the service as well as in getting the bill. We spent tons of time waiting and waiting(even for a piece of cake they just had to cut). So, to sum up---the food was good once you get served, SHARE the large entree and ask for the salad to be served first or order an appetizer, enjoy a couple of drinks and don't expect any coffee!!

Wonderful meal!

We stumbled on La Estacion one evening looking for a place to eat in January, 2010. What a lucky find. Our meal was outstanding. My partner (who is originally from Puerto Rico) had the whole red snapper and claims it was the best she ever had. I had pork with rice and beans which was delicious as well. Service was very good as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a great meal at a reasonable price.

Worth the $35 rt cabe fare

If you don't mind eating at a remodeled gas station and amongst a family of roaming cats definitely eat here! This place is not fancy - you dine el freco on cement patio furniture with paper napkins - but the grilled food and fresh cocktails were fabulous. It felt like trendy- outdoor NYC cafe meets authentic PR food and atmosphere. We would never have found this place on our own had it not been for TA! A definite must for El Conquistadoe travellers!
