Great surprise!

I work in London during the week and enjoy seeking our enjoyable, genuine Indian restaurants where I can take my Indian friends and colleagues. I found this one as I needed somewhere to eat and used TripAdvisor Local Picks on my iPhone. What a find! The starter was chaat with chickpeas, tamarind and pomegranite seeds. Fresh and zesty, we also had little cod kebabs. All very good. For a main we had buttery, tikka Paneer, the chickpeas and aloo gobi. We also had a beautiful light nan bread. Simple food, brilliantly executed, great flavours. We finished up with the best kulfi I have ever tasted. All of this eaten sitting on a lovely sofa - excellent ambiance. I will be taking my friends here - it is so much better than the grand Indian around the corner!

We were staying in a hotel around the corner and asked the concierge for a nice Indian Restaurant. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. The food was tremendous and very authentic. whilst I am a pretty plain eater my partner was delighted by the tastiness and fusions of the food. The service was first class and the waiter was very nice. Overall it would have to rate as prob the nicest Indian meal we have had

Really disappointed.

Chose this restaurant because of the high star rating and good reviews. Was very disappointed with our experience there and no way does this restaurant deserve the high ratings. Four of us went there early on a Saturday evening. Not busy, but got busier during our time there. First impressions were that it is a nicely decorated restaurant, with attentive waiters. This restaurant being at the back of Marble Arch we knew it would be a bit pricey, but the cost of the dishes were way over the top. Anyway, decided to forego starters and chose to have 8 popadoms with pickles between the 4 of us. Before we could finish these, we were asked if they could take our dishes because our main meals were ready! 3 of us got our main meals, leaving the 4th to wait 5 minutes for theirs to arrive! Decided not to have any deserts. When paying the bill,we was told that the credit card machine wasnt working so could we pay cash! So total cost for 8 popadoms, 4 main courses, 2 pilau rice, half a lager, a gin and tonic, a glass of white wine, an apple juice and 1 coffee came to £98! As i said, it was way too expensive and not a pleasant experience. Shame really because what we had to eat was quite nice.

Fantastic & Up there!

Ok so it was not the best of starts.... In London on Business I had arrived a sad 'billy no mates' table for one gent (with 15 or so trip advisor reviews telling me I should make the effort to have the indian food experience of a lifetime) Lets face it 8th out of 8000 restaurants is a big reputation to live up to! On asking for a table for one I was rather sheepishly shown downstairs where no one else was sat and despite the window into the kitchen and nicely laid tables the basement is a pretty poor dining area compared to upstairs in what is quite a small restaurant on the whole. I asked if I would be sat here on my own only to be reassured as soon as a certain customer left upstairs I would be welcome back up top with the rest of Londons indian food pilgrims.. As I sat there a very friendly waiter asked some quite candid questions. What makes me visit Zayna? Was I here on Business? What business are you in? and even whats your name? So I answered honestly I said I had been on trip advisor and so on, I also said truthfully that I was a Restaurant Consultant - He seemed very satisfied and looked as though he had rumbled me! As much as I tried to say I was in the restaurant as a customer and not a critic and that my role was more a training consultant it seemed to fall on deaf ears and I was elevated to star guest status or at least thats how it felt! Trying not to look too much like AAGill in Subway I observed that all other guests were also being treated like restaurant critics and that in fact that was just the way things are done at Zayna. Cutting to the chase the food and service were awesome, the atmosphere was 8/10 as it was a little quiet - the music stalled midway through the meal and no-one seemed to notice although this did not detract from what was a great, no Fantastic & Up there dining experience. Well done Zayna - I will be back with family and friends - honest I have some!

Pricey and Posh but really yummy nosh.

Visited with my partner after scouring the internet for a nearby Indian Restaurants whilst in Selfridges. Our starters were tasty concoctions of many flavours. I had two side portions off the Vegetarian Menu for £10 as a main which is a great idea if, like me and enjoy having a bit of everything on your plate. My boyfriend had a chicken dish which he loved. If we had wealthy friends I'd recommend it to them all but as it is we'll just have to keep it to ourselves for special occasion treats.
