Oasis Cafe, Luxor. A quiet retreat from the mayhem.

If you find yourself in Luxor, look no further for lunch than this centrally located cafe. With a wide range of local dishes, sandwiches and home made cakes as well as juices and coffees, its a little gem to get away from the street vendors and hawkers for a while and just sit back. The staff and owners are extremely friendly and the service swift. Thank you to you all for a great time!

How can I start to tell you how brilliant the Oasis Cafe is, all the staff couldn't be more cheerfull, the food is devine and its one of about 3 places that actually serve a proper cappuccino, there are rooms for smokers and non - smokers and they have a gallery of some of the finest art in all of Luxor and all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The Oasis Cafe is a great place to just come for a drink to escape the hastle, a quick bite to eat or have a well cooked good value three course meal in the evening.

Travelled to Luxor in Feb 2010 and came across this place by chance. Clean, calm, friendly staff and owner and reasonably priced food. Coffee was first class. Owner was on the premises and very chatty telling us all about the local politics. i would recommend it to anyone

The Oasis Cafe: something for everyone

The extensive selections on the menu offer something for everyone, from a North American brunch, to European daily specials, to Egyptian local dishes. The generous portions (my Greek salad alone was more than enough for 2 diners) will satisfy even the hungriest backpacker, and the reasonable prices will please tourists who want clean, tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere. Two recommendations: the home-made lentil soup, which can be as mild or as spicy as you like, and the chilled lemonade-with-mint. Recommended directions: from the Ferry Landing, the cafe is a short walk north (Nile will be on the left). Turn right after the Mercure-Etap-Luxor Hotel, and walk along the little bazaar to the end of the street. The cafe is in the restored building across from Bank Misr and the Evangelical Church.

Wow, What a find, wish we had visited at the beginning of our stay.

What an amazing place this is. Such a change from the constant hassle from annoying taxi and carriage drivers. Calm and tranquility sum up this amazing place. It was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed. Set in a very old building and quietly playing jazz music you feel your stress and annoyance slip away. They have a very good selection of food on the menu and always have a daily special's board. We had the Thai Yellow Curry with chicken and not only was it delicious it was presented beautifully on the plate as well. The staff are very helpful and not intrusive. Very good value for money. We would highly recommend this place to everyone.
