Excellent local food freshly cooked.

Following the recommendations from TA, we tried this restaurant on our third night in Luxor. It did not disappoint. Its really worth the effort of going a bit further if you are not staying near Karnak to sample the freshly cooked food. With a mixed menu of german and egyptian, we went for the egyptian food and had a lovely starter and main course, although I would not recommend the pigeon, not because it wasnt cooked to perfection, but because I had forgetten how little meat there was on them!!!! Excellent friendly servce. Would come again.

Make sure you visit !

We stayed at the Hilton which is just across and tried Gerda's Garden based on Tripadvisor reviews and were VERY happy we did. Had 5x dinner and 1x lunch and tried out different things and we were never dissapointed. Normally we try out several restaurants on our vacation but we felt so welcome and were so good taken care of that we went back on a daily basis. Tops: tomato soup - tuna salad - alexandria chicken. Gerda and Wael will be glad to give you travellers tips and even offer you free use of the internet !!! The hospitality at this restaurant is amazing.

Delicious food & loveable care

By accident I got to know this fantastic restaurant in 2007. As often as I come to Luxor I have to stop there! Excellent egyptian & german food is waiting and even more than just food: Great people who try 200% to advise and support their guests in any issue. Many greetings to Gerda & Wael, Claudia

Loved it! Amazing food, good atmosphere, ..., the best we had in Luxor!

Try this restaurant --- you will never regret it!

We stayed at Sofitel Karnak for a week in January 2009, and we ended up dining at Gerda?s Garden four times, which is 15 minutes? walk from the hotel. It is small but very clean, the food is excellent and reasonably priced; we tried both Egyptian and German dishes, and they were brilliant. My son?s favourite was veal schnitzel, my wife?s chicken tawouk with oriental salad, and I loved Alexandrian grilled chicken. But, the best thing in this restaurant is the owners: very pleasant, warm-hearted, and helpful. Our holiday was just in the middle of the extremely cold weather in Britain, and we were so much worried about our return flight to Gatwick. When we talked about it, they let me use their PC twice to check the weather, the flight status and the airport condition. They also looked genuinely concerned about our journey back home, Frau Gerda kept on saying, "We really hope your flight back to London will be alright. We really do.? The only thing we didn't particularly like is that it isn't non-smoking, but since we tended to have an early dinner and there were not many other guests there, it wasn't a big problem. If you are staying at Sofitel Karnak or Hilton, you must try this restaurant and certainly you will not regret it!
