Gerda's Garden reminds me of the Jewel of the Nile except the food is Egyptian/German instead of Egytian/English. Fresh food, well cooked, reasonably priced wine and beer, limited menu and pleasant service. The decor at both restaurants is ... interesting but not offensive. We had a good discussion of current Egptian politics with Gerda's husband!

Following the recommendations from TA, we tried this restaurant on our third night in Luxor. It did not disappoint. Its really worth the effort of going a bit further if you are not staying near Karnak to sample the freshly cooked food. With a mixed menu of german and egyptian, we went for the egyptian food and had a lovely starter and main course, although I would not recommend the pigeon, not because it wasnt cooked to perfection, but because I had forgetten how little meat there was on them!!!! Excellent friendly servce. Would come again.

By accident I got to know this fantastic restaurant in 2007. As often as I come to Luxor I have to stop there! Excellent egyptian & german food is waiting and even more than just food: Great people who try 200% to advise and support their guests in any issue. Many greetings to Gerda & Wael, Claudia
