We met at the Japanese American Museum and proceeded to taste teas, udon, sashimi, donburi, mochi, and so much more. All of it authentic, all of it delicious. And since there's been a lot of shall we say encroachment into Little Tokyo, there are other cuisines in the area. The shawarma wraps at Spitzl were excellent, and being married to an Arab I know my shawarma! Oh, did I say taste? That doesn't cover it--you should come hungry because you get a LOT to eat! Brian, our excellent tour guide, was entertaining and knew everything about the area. He even taught us proper Japanese eating etiquette and showed us some of his parkour moves. Wear your walking shoes, it's 3+ hours. Cameras optional.
Fun, Informative and Delish!

Highly recommended - this tour is packed with interesting information about the history and culture of Little Tokyo. Definitely come hungry, as you will be absolutely stuffed by the end of the tour!
Whether you are a visitor to Los Angeles or a local, there is so much to be learned and enjoyed on this tour! Our guide, Brian, was funny, charming and knowledgeable. There was lots of opportunities to ask questions and take photos. This tour is well worth it!

I never really knew the Lil Tokyo area very well, but I found that this tour definitely helped me learn more about the culture and different restaurants I could visit. Even the fact that I was able to sample the different foods was very fun.
I highly recommend this charming tour and it is in "good taste!"

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour in Little Tokyo. The tea and food was wonderful and the tour guide was informative and engaging. There was a LOT of good food. And the tea shop at the Japanese Museum was a delight.
What a great food tour

What a fantastic tour of the Downtown Financial District given by Ben (an undercover Beatbox hobbiest and DJ by trade.) We met inside Pershing Square (there is a $5 parking lot across the street) and then walked by the Biltmore. Our first stop was the Lost Souls Cafe which is located in an alley that would never otherwise be discovered. We had pandesal (literally "salty bread" which was really sweet) and a purple yam shake which was fantastic. We went to Syrup Desserts for gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, waffles, hot chocolate and mint mocha tea (delicious.) We had sandwiches at LA Cafe (great bread but only so-so sandwiches) and Thai food at Soi 7, known for its speciality teas and sake. This is a great place to buy loose leaf tea if you like flavored teas (although it is on the pricey side, it's worth it.) We walked by the beautiful Central Library, Richard Riordan library and US Bank building. The sun was setting so we had a beautiful view of things we would never notice if we were driving by. Our last stop was Cuidad for empanadas (they were ok) and deviled eggs. Our tour guide was really nice and gave quick bits of information about the city. He kept us moving and we had just the right amount of food. It's ok to bring home leftovers so you don't feel pressured to finish everything. I went with my 12 year old son and he had a great time. Don't forget to tip.
