terrible customer service

i am planing my trip to costa rica, and since these reviews are so good i really want to use this company for tours, but despite all this advertisement about being 24/7 on emails and great service and what not, i can't get response!! i can't even get a price list! maybe the tours are good, i don't know, but so far customer service sucks! no email from anyone, no price list anywhere... how am i supposed to trust a place that can't even help a potential customer? maybe people are giving them such great reviews because costa rica itself is amazing and there's tons to see, it's a wonderful experience regardless of the tour company.

My husband and I were in Costa Rica last month for 10 days. We?ve traveled around and have experienced many tour companies; none of them compare to Vargas~they are hands down, the best company we?ve ever used for excursions. While we spent a little more, it was completely worth it; all of our excursions were small and intimate which made the tours so much more enjoyable. Since the tours are small, there is a lot more flexibility in your day so you can stop off and shop, grab a drink or take some photos. The guides are the best~ super friendly, laid back; we never felt rushed or herded around like cattle. One of our guides, Diego, stopped at the grocery store so we could buy coffee to bring home. Through the guides, we learned a lot about Costa Rica~ the culture, history, business, government~we are definitely versed on Costa Rica. Lupita, one of the owners, is a delight to work with. She is friendly, responsive and highly efficient. I must have sent her easily a half dozen emails prior to leaving and she responded to all of them within 24 hours and answered all my questions no matter how ridiculous. She also called me the day prior to each excursion to confirm our pick up time and the details of our tour. We took three tours: Arenal, Rincion (zip lining) and Palo Verde. All fantastic; I highly recommend Rincion for zip lining~ what a blast and the location is beautiful. Thanks to Vargas (Lupita, Diego, Marco, Manny, Brendon) we had one of our best vacations ever and cannot wait to return to Costa Rica!

Vargas Tours are the only way to go!

We spent two weeks in Costa Rica at the RUI Ganacaste and used Vargas once again. We were treated like kings. We did the Waterfalls and mud baths, the ATV, and the River tour. All were nearby and not to much of a drive. The guides never stopped giving us a ton of info but also stopped along the way to point out the little things as well. They seemed to know everyone and everyone we met at the stops were very friendly. A quick stop at for shopping trip, no problem, lots of beverages along the way and bathroom stops etc. Just great service and only two of us per tour made the tours up close and personal. Vargas Tours is a great way to see CR!

While we had a recent stay at Sol Papagayo, we toured for 2 days with Vargas Tours, a locally owned company. The guides are local with great knowledge of the flora & fauna, the history and geography. The tours are always limited in size, so are intimate & fun. The drivers & guides are happy to stop any where for pictures, for shopping & know the best places to go for the best prices. The service is highly personalized and customized to show as much of the true CR feeling as possible. Definitely worth the bit of extra $$. each tour packs in the most bang for your bucks! This was our 3rd visit to Costa Rica & each time we have toured with Vargas & have always thrilled with our aventuras!

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica and took 2 Tours with Vargas. The Palo Verde was a 1/2 day tour; our guide, Manny, was fantastic - so knowledgeable and he and our driver, Brandon, made a point of stopping numerous times to point out things. Our 2nd tour was the Arenal Volcano plus the Tram/zip-line tour. We were fortunate to have Brandon for our driver once more. The trip was simply great, even though the volcano top was cloaked in clouds and we did not get to see it. I am afraid of heights (won't go up a ladder, etc) but was determined to do the zip-line and I'm glad I did. Of the 8 lines, one was 656ft high, one was about 2500ft long and on one the speed was up to 50mph -- talk about a rush. From there we were taken to the gorgeous 'The Springs' resort for their hot springs and later on an excellent meal. Vargas specializes in small groups (ours was 4 each day) which is great.
