After reading several great reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to give it a try. It's kind of tricky to find, but it is well worth the effort. It is located in the hotel "Luna Llena", tucked away in the back right side.
The owners are from Italy and the food is authentic. All of our meals were excellent so you can't go wrong. Save room for dessert! The chocolate covered pears were our favorite. On our one week stay we are going there a second time.
The people could not have been more friendly. See you in a couple of days!
Forget about finding good Italian food in the midwest, go to Costa Rica!

We stayed at The Capitan Suizo and three separate couples recommended that we go to La Via del gusto Italiano. It's a little place with great ambiance - red table cloths... The food was delicate and incredibly flavorful like Italian food should be; the bruchetta was out of this world. The menu was diverse and had something for everyone including vegetarians like me.
Our waiter was super attentive and the chef came out to greet us. No draw backs, over all a fantastic restaurant.

Excellent authentic Italian food. Service was extremely friendly but once the restaurant got a little busy, we felt ignored, but the food definatly made up for it! Special extras such as an amuse bouche at the start of the meal with a glass of prosecco. Fabulous restuarant - a must try in Tamarindo!
Always a surprising and delightful dinning experience!

My husband and I visit this restaurant at least once and sometimes twice a week. The exceptional food is authentic Italain cuisine with a very creative touch by Chef Gianni who strives to bring his customers a dinning experience they will never forget. The owners are friendly and accomodating. The "La Via Del Gusto" Italian restaurant offers a pleasurable experience you will hunger for again and again.
One Of My Top 5 (in the world, including Italy)

Growing up a Italian I have been blessed with "great food" sensibilities. In Italy, Italian food is a celebration of harvests, fresh-catch, and artisan culture. That is exactly what you get when dining @ "La Via Del Gusto," with the assurance that it is as authentic as it gets. Gianni, Patrizia, & Luca, all sign stellar performances, as they deliver with top marks in every facet of their operation. I am not exagerrating when I categorize this as one of my top 5 restaurants in the world - If you happen to skip "La Via" you are depriving yourself of a genuine Italian five-star dining experience, without the inflated price.
