We tried Lemon Zest at 8 PM on a friday night. It was super packed, but we got a table for 2 with no reservation. We decided to take an indoor table, but should have gone outdoors. It was hot, crowded, and loud inside. There was no one sitting outside and it was actually cooler out there. Service took a long time, but they were friendly - it was just so busy. We liked the food, but were not blown away by it. I would definitely try the place again though.
Friendliest Chef and Wife team in Jaco.

The Chef and Wife Team that own and operate this restaurant head the most friendly restaurant in Jaco, Costa Rica. They took care of a family of 4 who arrived late in the evening, hungry, and eager to learn of their first time visit to Costa Rica. Ex-surfers out of Florida, twenty-years prior, they have found their home and calling in this corner of the world.
You will enjoy the food in this restaurant. It is very US and European friendly. They are trying to be too much, for too many, in a very small space. The apetiser, entee and dessert "specials" exceed the regular menu offering. The "specials", loudly read by the very "surfing" wait staff becomes a confusing mish mash of "what was that". The waiter will be very willing to repeat the offerings.
The Chef is talented. He will produce a very real plate as ordered. It will fill and respond to that which you expected. You will not be disatisfied. You will love this restaurant in Jaco, Costa Rica.
The Lemon Zest is included in their margueritas. Too acidic. Go for something away from lemons. The sauces are repetative. The preparation, somewhat expert. The presentation changes without any consistency. The staff are friendly and you will remember that.
The restaurant is noisy. There is no theme. There is a cafe or cafeteria feeling. The food is very Internationally friendly and this is not a place to miss while in Jaco.
I dined there twice because it was that good. However, it is not the best restaurant in Jaco but the leadership team are the most friendly, professional and true professionals.
Do not miss a meal in this place. It is a close #2.

Custom preparation for fish we caught while deep sea fishing. Enjoyed Mahi Mahi prepared three ways. Reasonable price and beyond belief taste. Cannot wait to return!
I'd bet my first born that you will not be disappointed!

Simply the best meal you will eat in Costa Rica. Many meal options . . .if you don't see it on the menu exactly the way you want it, make a request and Chef Richie will tailor to your wishes. Not only will you have a devastatingly delicious meal but you'll make friends with the owners.
The best Chef in Costa Rica !

I ate at the Lemon Zest 4 times in the 6 nights I spent in Jaco. I had meals ranging from Alfredo Pasta to Southern Style Pork Chops. I am not sure how Rich, the Owner/Head Chef knows how to make so many different sauces. He is a sauce making fool for sure ! He could work any where in the world at any restaurant. I also ate at the Lemon Zest in November for Thanksgiving. His knowledge of meat preparation is also equally outstanding. My compliments to the Chef !
