REAL HUNGARIAN CUISINE

Our guide recommended us to visit this excellent restaurant. He said it was the place where we could eat real hungarian food as they cook it at home. The food was really tasty. The place was very interesting - it is a reai old house and the restaurant was founded there more than 100 years ago. The price was not too big. We really liked it.

A real taste of Budapest

We have eaten at Kehli several times now and always enjoyed ourselves. In the summer it's pleasant to sit in the walled in courtyard/garden outside and in winter it's nice and cosy inside. The food is traditional Hungarian nothing fancy and fairly priced. My only comment would be that the last visit the fried goose liver was not as fresh as it could have been and was served with instant mashed potatoes-I would avoid the fancier items here in future.

Fish courses were reallly excellent and children's half portions were gigantic. Loved the wine, the 7frankos was some of the best Hungarian wine I've tried. Early and late arrivals should be ok, everyone else should book in advance.

Very good Hungarian food

We got the 134 bus to the start of Arpid Hid, from where it is a 5 minute walk to the restaurant (last bus away just after 9.00 pm though). It is over 100 years old, and provides good traditional Hungarian food. We were so full that we could not face a dessert, but the starters, steak, goulash etc were excellent. The local wine we chose (Cabernet Franc / Merlot barrique) was great - very fruity.
