This place is a gem! Great prices and one of the best meals I have ever had. Located away from the beach but worth the walk this small simply decorated restaurant offers mouthwatering meals and great prices. This is a must in Tamarindo.
You won't find a better restaurant in Tamarindo.

Shlomy cooked us an all vegan buffet for our wedding that actually made our unsuspecting guests gasp when they found out it was vegan - committed carnivores all of them. They said it was the best wedding meal they'd ever had, period. Shlomy is delightfully flexible, the restaurant is casual and comfortable, and his staff went to an effort to dress up for us. We were charmed.

We spent the first week of February in Tamarindo with our 9 month old daughter. We tried to go to Seasons on either Sunday or Monday - but found them closed. We tried again on Friday and it was well worth the trek. The food was spectacular, but Seasons was by far the most accomodating of the "nicer" places we tried. First, the spoiled Americans were thrilled to find a restaurant with a high chair. By then, we had adjusted to "Tico Time" and arrived very early to accomodate a long dinner before bedtime. Chef Shlomy stopped by our table and asked what our daughter was eating. We said she was still on baby food, and he replied, "Hmm, maybe some pureed carrots." We thought he was joking, but sure enough my wife's plate included a hearty serving of pureed carrots, and the server brought us a baby spoon to go with it.
The service was phenomenal, and was only trumped by the quality of the food. We started with the Calamari, which rated among the best we've ever tried. For entrees, I had the Seafood Risotto that blew away any seafood dish we had in Tamarindo. My wife had a fish dish that she couldn't stop raving about for the next couple of days. But save room for dessert - the White Chocolate Mousse was to die for.
With a bottle of wine and a generous tip, our tab ran about $120. No way you can find this level of food, alcohol, and service in the States without spending significantly more, and likely double. The ambience was great - it would work for a nice dinner for two or a dinner with a large family with kids; all of which we witnessed enjoying the scene. We were there during "happy hour," which found the bar filled with hotel guests and locals winding down another great day in paradise.
We would love to go back to Tamarindo for many reasons, not the least of which was our great experience at this restaurant.
Best in Tamarindo

After dining in a variety of restaurants in Tamarindo, we finally found one that served interesting, hot, tasty and flavorful food. Sitting by the pool of the Hotel Arco, we enjoyed the entire experience. We spoke to Shlomy and he shared his background and a little bit about his life in Costa Rica. He made us feel at home. The portions were substantial and plated beautifully. You must take the trip "up the hill" for a wonderful meal!
Good food, poor service.

The food here was very good with innovative specials and good vegetarian options and desserts. However, we walked in without a reservation and were literally ignored for 20 minutes. There were empty tables but the wait staff (and shlomy) could care less about seating us. Once I asked to be seated, our server was very slow and seemed to disapear for long period of time. I suggest Dragonfly as a MUCH better alternative. Also, CASH ONLY.
