I visited the top place from trip Advisor ranking. I always do just to check out the system . Last time there we went to Rosemary's and were not disappointed. This time we tried " Offthe Strip" it was in a shopping strip mall but dont get disappointed yet..... it was wonderful. I called for a reservation for 2 and was told they dont take reservations for a small table but come on out and it shouldnt be a problem It was not. We arrived to be greeted by the owner Tommy who quickly got us a table ( one of only 15 or so--- with eating at a counter and bar also) The place had a wide open kitchen , and I mean wide-- no window or door just a continuation with the dining room. the smells were great . Lots of blackboard menue items, also a printed menue. Good things from steaks/chops,fish,pastas etc. Tommy suggested a sampling ( around the world) and said it would be enough. He also recommended a very drinkable wine for $ 33---do you believe it. We were in amazment when plate after plate arrived. We shared everything and finished it all on every plate, even the cheese cake which I ordinarilly dont care for but we again licked the plate. Came to less than a hundred dollars. The best meal of the trip at a legit price, not a Vegas rip-off.Service was great ( another Tommy was our waiter) Applaud go all around to " Off-The -Strip" for one of the best meals I have ever had, anywhere. Keep up the good work.
The only downside, or maybe an upside, was that it was about 15 min south of the strip in a Smith super strip mall. No parking problems and you dont need a valet or even menue if you go
The best local place you don't know about

You would never find it driving around. Get over the fact that it is in a strip mall, use you GPS and enjoy. The place is locally owned and locally supported. The regulars will chat and tell you the best specials to order. We took a family of seven for Valentines Day and it was the perfect place for the occasion. Prime cuts of steak cooked perfectly and the perfect cheesecake for dessert. They cut the steaks just prior to cooking and make their own cheesecake. You can't beat the value. Keep in mind that my "Cost per person" is for a non-drinking family, but we did order 4 prime cuts. See you there on my next trip to Vegas!
We wanted a special off-strip dining experience and found it "Just Off the Strip".

We recently visited Las Vegas, we were looking for a different dining experience than typically found on the Strip, we discovered "Just Off the Strip" and decided to try it. We first visited the Tropicana West location, though this location had just opened and the menu was limited as a result, we found the quality of the dishes ordered to be excellent and the service superb. The manager (Joie), bartender (JB) and the host (Heinz) were very accommodating and welcoming. We had so much fun and enjoyed the dinner so much that we decided to visit their original location (Southern Highlands Pkwy) two nights later for dinner.
Joie had warned that reservations were needed, thus we made the reservation and arrived :15 minutes early, the restaurant is located in a small strip plaza. We had a glass of wine and were seated at our promised time. The patrons were obviously regulars and familiar with both the menu and staff. To our surprise, Heinz was at this location that evening and warmly welcomed and seated us at our table. Heinz introduced us to the co-owner of the restaurant (who had relocated from NYC); after a brief discussion with the owner he suggested that we try his "around the world" series of dishes, we were up for it and agreed. It was a wonderful experience, the diversity of the menu items certainly highlighted the capabilities of the chef and staff.
getting there is the only dowwnside...

great food, great personable service. make sure your cab driver knows how to get there BEFORE you leave the strip- if not, get a different cab.
